Contact is a skill in Hakomi that Ron Kurtz borrowed from Carl Rogers. Ron says, “His idea was to take what client said that was emotionally charged and do two things: he would name the person’s experience in a sympathetic voice and possibly restate what had been said in simpler, less charged language.” Ron extended this concept to the use of touch in Hakomi.
